Travelling to Bullsbrook is always an complicated task. The score may say otherwise, but the saints never place themselves out of the fight. With lachie “KYLIE” nicol unable to play last week we were pleased to see Maitland make his way back into the side after an ankle injury during our pre season opener against Balga (during the warm up might I add). In addition to Maitland, Tbag also came back into the side this week and lead the way In the ruck.
Upon arrival at their ground, though dry conditions, the ground itself was similar to a wet sponge so a wet and slippery ball was inevitable.
From the outset the Roos displayed dominance keeping the ball in their attacking half for a majority of the 1st quarter. The backline was secured well with the saints only able to score 2 points in the first half under some great guidance and synergy by all Backmen involved. The lead was stretched out by over 12 goals at half time after some special work from our midfield and some handy soccer skills by Ronaldo I mean Tyson in the goal square.
The saints put up a good fight in the second half kicking a few goals but the Roos continued mount pressure all around the ground and extended the lead by over 20 goals by the final siren. A great effort by all players on the day including the large volume of disposals by Davo including 3 goals. Other big contributors on the day included Tyson with a whopping 13 goal haul. Other best players on the day included Gaz, Devin, Larso and Lindsey. The Peep Show award went to Backmen Marty.
This week the Roos take on Parkerville at their ground and looking at the weather, it looks like another wet game so it should be an interesting game.
Good luck Roos
